Honour The Lord*

When you give, affirm boldly these seven facts!
"Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty" Proverbs 3:9‑10.
I. Even as I honor the Lord by seeking Him first; giving Christ the pre‑eminence in all things (Colossians
II. As the wise men came from the east and honored the holy child Jesus with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, so as a wise Christian, I honor Jesus with each gift unto the spreading of His Gospel.
III. When I give, I am not honoring the pastor, the church, the evangelist, the missionary, this cause or that cause. My giving actually honors the Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujah, what a sweet privilege!
IV. Honor my Lord! Think of it! It removes the sense of rigid duty out of my giving and injects royal dignity and tribute to my King!
V. "Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy" 1 Chronicles. 29:9. No wonder they rejoiced in their giving: they were honoring the Lord! I, too, rejoice when I give unto Him!
VI. "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor unto Him" (Revelation 19:7), even when we give each dollar unto the advancing of His Gospel. The money I spend on myself, or for things, perishes with the using; but the money I give unto the Lord is treasure laid up in Heaven and I will never regret having given it, no, not a million years from now!
VII. Every time I give, I know I honor ‑ not man, church nor organization ‑ but my blessed Lord Himself! Cod says, "Them that honor me I will honor" 1 Samuel 2:30.
