How to Be Used of God*

BY DON GOSSETT

It's in the heart of every Christian to be used of God. There is much work to be done, and the Lord of the harvest is calling for laborers.

We must have a SURE KNOWLEDGE of our own salvation. We are WITNESSES FOR THE LORD, "I know whom I have believed." "Hereby we know we have eternal life." "The Spirit Himself beareth witness we are the children of God" 2 Timothy 1:12; 1 John 5:11; Romans 8:16.

We must have a working knowledge of the Bible. The Word alone reveals the plan of God for this life and eternity. By the Word we know about PRAYER, about HEALING, about GIVING, about WALKING with the Lord, about HEAVEN and HELL.

We need to he FILLED with the Spirit. Then we must be LED by the Holy Spirit. Only the Spirit can ANOINT us for truly effectual service.

We must HAVE A HEART OF GENUINE LOVE for others. Only the love of Christ can constrain us to be used of God. It was love that compelled Jesus to come, to heal, then to die for us. Now through His love we are TO LIVE for others.

We must KNOW and PRACTICE the marvelous power of prayer. God promises to do amazing things in answer to Bible praying.

We must INVEST our money in the Lord's work. Our money is a part of our lives. Bountiful, liberal, cheerful giving always pleases God.

We must be BOLD and FEARLESS. "The righteous are bold as a lion" Proverbs 28:1. It was boldness for which the early Christians prayed so earnestly (Acts 4:29). The Lord will give us this holy boldness, which means confidence, courage, fearless and daring.

We must OBEY explicitly the Lord's Word. "Go ve and preach the Gospel to every creature . . . These signs shall follow them that believe . . . In my name shall they cast out devils . . . they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover" Mark 16. Dare to carry out His orders!

To be used of God we must SEEK TO BRING GLORY AND HONOR unto Him.  How? Yield yourself unto the Lord RIGHT NOW. Pray, "Here I am, Lord, ready to be used of thee!" Yield your ALL unto the Lord. Then ask as Paul did, "Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?" REVIEW these essentials often. Set out to be used of God!
