I AM NOT A SYMPATHY SEEKER*

By Don Gossett

(Make this a personal affirmation. What you confess you possess. This is the secret to overcoming a negative. wrong confession).

FIRST: I shall never talk about my sicknesses. When I tell people my troubles, it is usually to get their sympathy. I know my sickness came from the devil, my adversary. When I tell of my troubles, I am giving testimony to Satan's ability to get me into trouble.

SECOND: When I talk about my sicknesses and diseases, I am glorifying the adversary who had the ability to put that disease or sickness on me. Most folks may feed on sympathy and pity. I shall overcome this petty, silly sin. Pity can never help my pains. Sympathy can never help me get well. I shall never seek sympathy!

THIRD: When I, as a believer, am used of the Lord to minister healing to the sick, I shall not sympathize with the sick and pity them because of their pains, but I shall assume authority, on the grounds of the healing stripes of Jesus, and command those pains and sicknesses to leave in His mighty Name.

FOURTH: I shall obey God's Word given to Joshua, "Be strong, and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for the Lord your God is with you" Joshua 1:9. "There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life" Joshua 1:5. When I minister to the sick, I hear Jesus speaking to me: "Behold, I give unto you power over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you" Luke 10:19.

FIFTH: God knows no defeat, neither does His Word, and He has made me "more than a conqueror through Him that loved me" Romans 8:37. Concerning God, my Saviour said, "With God, nothing shall be impossible" Luke 1:37. Concerning me, Jesus said, "Nothing shall be impossible unto you" Matthew 17:20. By using the two unfailing weapons, God's Word and Jesus' Name, the irresistibility of God becomes my irresistibility. "No weapon that Satan may form against these weapons shall prosper" Isaiah 54:17.

SIXTH: I can never know defeat when I am speaking God's Words. They are all powerful. They are supernatural. I confess that my God is taking me out of the realm of failure and locating me where victory, love, peace, joy, strength and health prevail. I have prayed for success. I have prayed for power. I have prayed for great healings. Now I see where my strength lies: "The Lord is the strength of my life" Psalm 27:1. Praise the Lord, as I'm acting on my God?given abilities, my wishes and desires are all being realized, it is like a dream coming true. It has suddenly dawned upon me that much of what I have been praying and begging God for, He has already given me and it's only awaiting my action.

SEVENTH: My faith is measured by my confession. I refuse to confess a negative confession, that is, my weaknesses and failures, my pains, my symptoms, what I cannot do, for I would invariably go down to the level of my confession. I confess Jesus as my Saviour and my Lord; thereby I am a new creation. I am an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ. I know that I am in union with Deity!
